Crawler Tire Testing

When it comes to crawlers, it's hard to overstate the importance a good set of tires make to the performance of a crawler.
A great set of tires can help you conquer steep hills and technical rocks, and a bad set can cause endless frustration out on the trail.
In this section we will review two sizes of crawlers tires based on the popular 2.2" and 1.9" wheel sizes.
The tires will be tested exclusively in the dry and rocky conditions of the Mojave desert, with their performance measured against sandstone, granite, loose rocky soil, and sand. Of these different testing terrain, sandstone will be the main testing and evaluation surface.
To help keep testing variables to a minimum, we have selected a few crawling trails where each tire will be evaluated. This allows us to run the same truck on the same series of trails and climbs, with different tires to see the difference.
We are still in the process of documenting the trails and collecting photos, so stay tuned for more updates. That said, one of our most technical spots, Badrock Ridge, has the write-up complete and you can see this on the associated sub tabs in this section.
Currently this is the most active section of the website, so keep an eye on the main page for updates.
